Dear Partner in Ministry:
"I thank God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you,
I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now."
It is always such a joy to pause during the midst of the activities of ministry to update so many of you regarding the ministry of Cornerstone in the South Dallas/Fair Park neighborhood. Each time we write, it becomes a testimony of how God uses so many of you to help us share His love in so many tangible ways. It is also a source of encouragement because it reminds us that although we might serve in a community with many challenges, that we are not alone! Your partnership with us means so very much and we thank God often for each of you!
As we reflect during this Thanksgiving season, we are constantly reminded of God's provision through so many of you. Whether you may view your contribution as small or large, we are so grateful because we realize that with so many other agencies requesting your support you continue to assist us in so many ways. Several weeks ago when we discovered we did not have enough towels to accommodate the growing number of those who wanted to take showers at the Cornerstone Clothing and Shower Complex, many of you responded. Thanks so much, now our guest no longer have to "drip dry". A few weeks ago when we were running very low on men jeans, a retired couple drove from the Rockwall area and delivered nearly 100 pair. They drive every Saturday, sometimes as far as three counties away from their home, looking for yard sales in order that they might purchase jeans for many of the homeless! Another couple approaching 90 years of age can often be seen in the community delivering coffee, drinks, and other items for the Cornerstone Kitchen.
We are also thankful because God has blessed us with some AWESOME community partners. We are always reminded that the needs in the area are greater than one congregation's ability to address. For example, Birthday Blessings (www.birthdayblessingtx.org) sponsors birthday parties for children in the South Dallas community with the hope of helping them feel love on their special day. World Vision (www.worldvision.org) and Good 360 (www.good360.org) are examples of organizations that we have partnered with to reach out to the community by providing resources to share with that in need.
To the churches, other organizations, nonprofit agencies, and individuals who give of their time and resources on a daily basis to empower our local congregation to touch the lives of thousands each month by providing some of the basic necessities of life – food, clothing, housing, afterschool care, job training, children clubs, educational opportunities, showers, medical care, eyeglasses, dental care, and many other ministries, we once again say, "THANK YOU!"
As we move into the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, there are many ways in which you might consider serving with us at Cornerstone to bless the community. We often hear our volunteers say, "I was the one blessed!" Acts 20:35, "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
